There have been some instances where the procurement has been decentralised to States for local procurement of drugs and consumables. The local procurement needs to be undertaken at SDS or District level in accordance with the approval from the Competent Authority.

Evaluation of stores and stocks under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) is important to ensure an uninterrupted supply of anti-TB drugs to patients and avoid the expiry of drugs.

The evaluation also looks at the optimal performance of the supply chain management and informs the policy if there is any need to address certain critical checkpoints for optimal performance at all levels.

This is facilitated through the Ni-kshay Aushadhi application and the physical stock registers.

In adults, the dosage of drugs for a shorter oral Bedaquiline (Bdq) - containing Multi-drug Resistant (MDR)/ Rifampicin-resistant Tuberculosis (RR-TB) regimen, varies according to their weight. 

The table below provides drug dosages for adult patients, according to their weight bands, in a shorter oral Bedaquiline-containing MDR/RR-TB regimen.

Table 1 shows the sequence of using replacement drugs to modify the longer oral multi (M)/extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) regimen. The physician at the nodal and district DR-TB centres (N/DDR-TBC) should use this table to replace the drugs to modify the regimen.

It is important to know the dosages of Multi (M)/ Extensively Drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) drugs for adults on a longer oral M/XDR-TB regimen.​
