Role of DDS Pharmacist

The District Drug Store (DDS) pharmacist is responsible for managing the supply chain of all drugs and commodities at the district level under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).

 

The DDS Pharmacist is involved in the following activities:

Stock management

Stock management refers to the activities undertaken to ensure sufficient stock of drugs/ items at all stocking points. It is facilitated through Ni-kshay Aushadhi.

The stock management process under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) includes the following activities:

  1. Drug Inventory
  2. Physical Stock Verification
  3. Expiry Management

1) Drug Inventory:

Issue dispatch

This process is used to record drugs issued or dispatched to State Drug Stores (SDS), District Drug Stores (DDS), Tuberculosis Unit (TU) and Peripheral Health Institution (PHI) stores and other sources through Ni-kshay Aushadhi.

District drug stores

To ensure smooth and timely distribution of anti-tuberculosis drugs within the state, store facilities at the district level in all the states are built as per the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) guidelines. These facilities under the programme are called District Drug stores (DDS).
